Arjun Tendulkar was bought at his base price of Rs 20 lakh by defending champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL Auction 2021 in Chennai on Thursday.

Arjun Tendulkar Bought By Mumbai Indians At Base Price Of INR 20 Lakh

The 21-year-old left-arm pacer was bought by the defending IPL champions Mumbai Indians for Rs 20 lakh in the auction. MI was the only team that bid on Arjun Tendulkar, who was the last player to be sold in the auction.

Arjun Tendulkar will now get to be coached and mentored under some of the biggest names in Indian cricket when the upcoming 2021 season begins in India later this year.

“Since childhood, I have been a die-hard fan of Mumbai Indians. I would like to thank the coaches, owners, and support staff for showing faith in me. I can’t wait to put on the blue and gold (jersey),” Arjun Tendulkar said in a video message after the IPL 2021 auction.

Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL champions, also posted a tweet welcoming the left-arm fast-bowling all-round to their set up.

“Cricket in his blood. Refined in the nets. Now ready to take the 22-yards by storm. Welcome home, Arjun Tendulkar!” Mumbai Indians posted on twitter after buying him at the auction.

The 21-year-old left-handed batsman and left-arm medium-pacer have played 2 T20s where he scored 3 runs and taken 2 wickets. Arjun Tendulkar made his senior debut for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 during the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

On February 14, Arjun Tendulkar has drawn the attention of IPL franchises by slamming an unbeaten 77 off just 31 balls for the MIG Cricket Club in the 73rd Police Invitation Shield tournament on Sunday.

The 21-year-old’s blazing innings was studded with 8 sixes and he also hit 5 fours during his innings. He shone with the ball as well and took 3 wickets for 41 runs as MIG won the match by a massive 194-run margin.

Arjun Tendulkar, 21, has been earlier seen in the net sessions of the team. He was in the UAE with the squad during the 13th edition of the IPL 2020 as well.

Mumbai Indians bought the likes of Adam Milne, Nathan Counter-Nile, Piyush Chawla, James Neesham, Yudhvir Singh, Marco Jansen, and Arjun Tendulkar in the IPL 2021 Auction. They have a balanced squad boosting of likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Quinton De Kock, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and skipper Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians re-signed Australian bowling all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile for Rs 5 crore before roping in New Zealand pacer Adam Milne, who is a like-to-like replacement for James Pattinson who opted out of IPL 2021 and will join forces with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult in MI’s pace attack.

Mumbai Indians also strengthened their bowling attack by roping in veteran Indian spinner Piyush Chawla for Rs 2.4 crore.  Mumbai Indians also roped in New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham.
