Ashes 2017/18: Twitter Reacts as England Gain Slight Advantage on Day Two
Nov 24, 2017 at 2:03 PM
Australia finished day two at 165/4 and trail England by 137 runs after England was bowled out for 302 in the first innings courtesy England’s inexperienced middle order as James Vince and David Malan scored solid half centuries. Vince scored 83 on day one whereas Malan scored 56 and was dismissed by Mitchell Starc. For Australia, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins picked three wickets each and Nathan Lyon picked up two wickets in the innings. Moeen Ali also scored an important innings of 38 runs lower down the order.
Australia in the first innings lost three early wickets as debutant Cameron Bancroft failed to impress and David Warner and Usman Khawaja also fell early. Peter Handscomb was also picked up early by the experienced James Anderson. Shaun Marsh then joined the Aussie captain Steve Smith to steady the innings. Smith and Marsh were involved in an 89 runs partnership and stayed unbeaten at the end of the day.
James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Moeen Ali and Jake Ball picked a wicket apiece in the Australian innings.
Let’s have a look how Twitter reacted after day two’s play.
Vince's runout was unfortunate, but still a decent start to #Ashes for @EnglandCricket. Best of luck the for rest of this Test and the series.

"The game is in the balance. It's been a fascinating two days. England will be concerned they lost six wickets for not many runs on a pitch not doing very much." @MichaelVaughan

I owe Nathan Lyon an apology.
He was right when he said careers would be ended in this series.

Ashes Test is so watchable: skilful bowling and lovely field position angles to go with a sporting pitch and perfectly paced outfield. Good commentary too!!! Simple coverage with no statistic complications!

Steve Smith is the best Test batsman in the world, and could be the difference between the two sides. Hugely frustrating to watch! #Ashes
