Rohit Sharma, who was leading the side in Asia Cup opted to rest before Friday’s mega-finale. Furthermore, they have rested Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, and their pace duo. As a result, Deepak Chahar makes his debut in ODI cricket.

However, the most eye-grabbing sight was when MS Dhoni came out in the middle for the toss. It was a nostalgic vision for the cricket lovers as Dhoni has been one of the best captains India have ever produced. Moreover, he is the only captain to win three ICC Trophies.
Batting first, Afghanistan went all guns blazing against a young India bowling attack. Mohammad Shahzad led the onslaught taking on debutant Chahar for 24 runs in two overs. MS Dhoni, however, was quick to assess the situation and brought his spinners into play.
MS Dhoni draws the first blood for India
It was the 12th over of the game when Ravindra Jadeja bowled an arm ball to the struggling Javed Ahmadi. He walked down the track to work this flat ball through the on-side.
The ball didn’t spin and missed the inside edge. Replays show that Javed Ahmadi got a faint inside edge that brushed his thigh pad before rolling past the stumps.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was quick to do the rest as Afghanistan loses their first wicket for 65 runs.
