Australia vs India 2018-19: Aaron Finch Suffers Injury Scare Ahead Of Series-Opener

Aaron Finch suffered a nasty blow on his hand while facing teammate Mitchell Starc in a fierce training session ahead of the first Test against India. Australia’s Test squad sweated it out for more than three hours on Tuesday as their pacers kept the batsmen on toe with some hostile bowling.

The blockbuster Border-Gavaskar trophy series will start on December 6th in Adelaide. The Perth Stadium will host the second Border-Gavaskar match on December 14th, before the series moves to Melbourne for the boxing day test match on December 26th and Sydney for New Year’s game on January 3rd, 2019.

With India being the top-ranked Test side in the world, Australia will have their task cut-out. And the hosts are making sure that they enter the series with full preparation. The fierce net session at the Adelaide Oval very much proves that. Australia’s fiery pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Patt Cummins gave their teammates a tough time in the nets.

But amidst the friendly hostility, Finch coped a nasty blow on his right hand. The right-handed batsman was soon assessed by team doctor. The hand was strapped and Finch was cleared to continue batting.

“A bit of mayo on that from Finchy,” Mitchell Marsh said.

“If you get out of our net session and you’re not injured, you’ve had a good net. I’m still in one piece. We’ve all trained exceptionally well. We’ve prepared as best we possibly can,” he added.

Meanwhile, Finch is set to open the batting for Australia. The right-hander will partner either uncapped Marcus Harris or Usman Khawaja at the top.
