Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh came up with a bold reply after Mitchell Johnson said Australia will have to fight to stop India in the final Test.
India bounced back from their defeat in the second Test in Perth in style, beating the hosts by 137 runs. India have now not only taken an unassailable lead but have also retained the Border-Gavaskar series. It was a clinical effort from Virat Kohli & Co. as the hosts never looked in contention to put up a fight let alone winning the game.
Batting first, India piled up 443 for 7 – their highest overseas total this year. Cheteshwar Pujara starred with the bat, scoring 106 while Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored fifties. The bowlers then complimented the batsmen’s effort by coming up with a stunning show. Jasprit Bumrah picked up career-best 6 for 33 as India bowled the hosts out for just 151 to take a huge 298-run lead.
India suffered an inexplicable collapse in the second innings but had enough lead to set Australia a huge target. India declared their innings on 106 for 8 in the second innings to set Australia a huge 399-run target. In reply, Australia were all out for just 261. Barring Pat Cummins (63) and Shaun Marsh (44), none of the other batsmen could provide any notable resistance. Consequently, Australia kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled up for just 261 in the first session on the final day.
After the game, Mitchell Johnson took to Twitter to congratulate India and hail their dominating effort. At the same time, he also said that the hosts need to come up with a fighting performance to stop the high-flying visitors in the last Test in Sydney.
“India just to good in all departments this Test, well done ?? 2-1 to India means Australia will need to fight in Syd to stop India winning the series. Enjoy your New Years ?,” Mitchell Johnson tweeted.

However, Harbhajan Singh held a different view. The off-spinner re-tweeted Johnson’s tweet and said that Australia’s batting will not be able to put any fight before predicting that India would win the series 3-1.
“Australia’s batting is to Fragile mate to put up fight in Sydney against this brilliant indian bowling line up .. it’s gonna be 3-1.. Happy new year ?,” wrote Harbhajan.
