Australia batsman Phillip Hughes has died from a brain injury he sustained three days ago while playing a Sheffield Shield match at Sydney Cricket Ground versus New South Wales. 

According to the Cricket Australia team doctor Peter Brunker, the 25-year old never regained consciousness after being struck by a bouncer and falling on the ground face down. It was a freakish injury he sustained and never recorvered from that. 

Hughes was the one of the rising stars of Australian Cricket. He played 26 Tests and 25 ODIs and was on the verge of getting selected for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
