Australia did some late-night celebrations on the field post the victory in the fourth Test and the players did push-ups on the field, with each and every player taking part in it. The jovial mood in the camp was iconic to watch as Australia sealed the Ashes. Here is the video of celebration –

At Manchester, Australia had to take eight wickets on the final day to win the Test. An early resistance from overnight batsmen Jason Roy and Joe Denly saw Australia wait for the first wicket of the day. Pat Cummins again struck twice to bag the wickets of Roy and Ben Stokes in space of less than seven overs.

England’s lower order also added Australia’s wait as the partnership between Jos Buttler and Craig Overton lasted for 21.1 overs. Overton and Jack Leach batted together for 14 overs. Just few minutes before stumps, Australia got the final wicket when Josh Hazlewood trapped Overton in front of stumps to lead the visitors to a famous win.

Earlier in the series, Australia had kicked off the proceedings with a 251-run win in Birmingham. Making his comeback to the Test cricket, Steven Smith had scored centuries in both the innings.

The second Test at Lord’s ended in a draw, largely due to the rain playing a major part in the match. Smith suffered a concussion after being hit by a bouncer from debutant Jofra Archer, that saw him miss the third Test.

At Leeds, Ben Stokes led England to a historic win to keep their hopes alive. He shared 76 runs with the number 11 batsman Jack Leach.

In the fourth Test, England had their chances till the final day but losing twin wickets in the first over in the last session on a penultimate day cost them and lost the fourth Test, despite resistance from the lower order.

The fifth and the final Ashes Test kicks off September 12 at Kennington Oval in London. England can level the series if they win the final Test of the series.
