BCCI to select Indian team for New Zealand series on September 12
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will select the squad for the home Test series against India on September 12 in Delhi. The BCCI selection committee led by the Sandeep Patil will table a meeting in Delhi to choose the team for all the three Test matches. The Indian Test captain Virat Kohli will also be present during the selection meeting.
Currently, the selectors are in greater Greater Noida keeping a keen eye on the players playing participating in the Duleep trophy. Surely the selectors will be tempted to have a look at the form of players so as to induct the deserving candidates into the squad for the Test series.
Yesterday, BCCI added five Indian players Stuart Binny, Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma to the Duleep trophy squad so as to prepare them for the upcoming Test series.
According to the schedule, the New Zealand team will land here on September 11 and will play first practise match on September 16 against Mumbai Ranji team at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
New Zealand will kick off the international assignment from September 22; the first Test will be played at Green Park which will be hosting a Test match after an exile of six years. Both the teams will fly to Kolkata for the second Test.
The third and the final Test match will be played in Holkar stadium, Madhya Pradesh which will be hosting a Test match for the first time. Five ODI matches series will follow the Test series. The Kiwis will announce the squad for ODI series later.
New Zealand last toured India in the year 2012 to play two Test matches and the same number of T20Is. Indian team won both the Test matches whereas the New Zealand team continued its winning streak against India in T20s.
Probable squad: Virat Kohli (C), Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, R. Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
