While Bangladesh will host the two special T20Is between Asia XI and World XI in the next month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent big names to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to represent Asia XI.
The BCB will organise the Mujib 100 T20 Cup Bangladesh 2020 in the next month. In the celebration of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, the BCB is organising this two-match T20I series between Asia XI and World XI. They are likely to play these matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (Dhaka) on 21st and 22nd March respectively.
BCCI sends the names of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav
The BCB has requested every top Asian team to join in this special series. According to the recent IANS report, the BCCI has agreed to send four top limited-overs cricketers for the Mujib 100 T20 Cup Bangladesh 2020. These players’ names are captain Virat Kohli, opener Shikhar Dhawan, right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami and the left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav.
A source told IANS, “Ganguly sent in the names to the BCB after we checked on the availability of the players. Kohli, Shami, Dhawan and Kuldeep will represent us in the Asia XI team. It has been a while since we sent the names because the Bangladesh board needed the list from the BCCI to be able to prepare the Asian squad.”
Earlier, the BCB asked the BCCI to release seven Indian players for this special T20I series. But there was an issue with the previous time schedules as the two matches were initially dated on 18th and 21st March 2020. Meanwhile, South Africa will tour in India in March for the three-match ODI series, and their last ODI will be played on 18th March. So, there was a very lesser chance on the availabilities of the top Indian cricketers as well as top Proteas cricketers (can play for World XI), especially for the first T20I.
But due to the new dates, the BCCI has now agreed to release the four top Indian cricketers. After this special series in Bangladesh, these four Indian players will join their respective IPL teams for the IPL 2020, which will begin on 29th March 2020.
On the other hand, the Pakistan cricketers will not be available for the Mujib 100 T20 Cup Bangladesh 2020 due to the PSL 2020.
