Former England pacer Dominic Cork believes that Ben Stokes will become the country’s greatest cricketer. His reaction after the allrounder scored a gritty century in the ongoing second Test match against West Indies at Old Trafford. Stokes set up a 260-run partnership with the opener Dom Sibley which fired up West Indies attack as England scored 469 runs in their first innings.
Ben Stokes was extraordinary last year. He was the mainstay for England in the World Cup 2019 triumph. The southpaw was part of the dramatic super-over in the grand-finale against New Zealand. That over ended in a tie but his side won the basis of boundary count rule.

However, Stokes has already etched his name in England’s cricket history with his Headingley innings in Ashes 2019. He single-handedly stole the show from Australia who were stunned with Stokes masterpiece. The allrounder scored 135 runs and set up 76 runs partnership with Jack Leach for the last wicket. His lone effort led England to level the five-match series.
Dominic Cork highly rates Ben Stokes
Dominic Cork heaped praise on Ben Stokes’s determination to work harder and improve his game. He highly rates Stokes for his contribution.
“I genuinely think he can get better because of his work ethic. He wants to bat, he wants to bowl, he wants to work on his game, wants to get better,” Cork said on Sky Sports show The Cricket Debate.
“I know he works a hell of a lot on his bowling as well. I just see this man not becoming only the best in the world but one of the best we have had ever. That’s how highly I rate him.”
The former seamer thought things changed for better for the World Cup hero after the Bristol bar brawl three years ago. Stokes was out for the team for a long time before the court cleared all the charges against him. Since then, he has never looked back.
