Ireland fast bowler Boyd Rankin is set to miss the remaining ongoing ODI series and a 4-day match against Afghanistan. Boyd ranking is suffering from a back injury and is yet to recover from it. He was expected to be fit for Ireland’s tour of India against Afghanistan.
The 32-year-old Fast bowler is out from cricket since January; he last played against Afghanistan in Desert T20 challenge tournament. He featured in a fitness test in last weekend which he failed and now he has to remain on sidelines for some more time.
Peter Chase was named a replacement for Boyd Rankin and he will remain with the squad for the upcoming Intercontinental Cup match as well. The match is scheduled on 28th March. Peter Chase has been torn apart by Afghanistan’s batsmen. Ireland coach John Bracewell was disappointed with the news and now hoping for Chase to step up in the absence of Rankin.
Ireland is currently trailing behind in the ODI series by 2-1, they have also lost the T20 series as well.
