Brijesh Patel to be the manager of the Indian team at World T20

In a positive development, former Indian test cricketer and Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary Brijesh Patel has been named as the manager of the Indian cricket team at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 to be held in Bangladesh from March 16 to April 6.

Patel represented India in 21 test matches between 1974 to 1977 with a batting average of 29.45 with a highest score of 115 not out.

Patel had previously served as chairman of the national selection committee for the Indian team but had resigned after suffering a heart ailment.

While Patel’s international records may not be sparkling, the former Karnataka cricketer scored over 11000 runs in first class cricket including 37 hundreds. Maybe, Patel’s influence and the respect he commands from the cricketing fraternity could boost the morale in the Indian team.
