West Indies are the WT20 champion but they are treated very badly by their cricket association WICB. West Indies are the only country who have won the WT20 two times. Captain Darren Sammy gave an emotional speech after winning the World T20 at the Eden Gardens which was appreciated by everyone but reprimanded by West Indies Cricket Associations.
They players even did receive a congratulatory message from their board.
But, the most famous cricketer of the Caribbean Chris Gayle has donated the money to Charity organization because the match fee is a joke.
Gayle, who has scored a hundred against England at the Wankhede, has thrown his weight behind Darren Sammy’s speech. Gayle in his Instagram account said, “ Darren Sammy I support and backed him a 100% with his speech, well said about WICB, WIPA needs to be shaken up as well! The struggle is real.”
Darren Sammy has retired from Test cricket and is no more eligible for Test cricket as he is not given a contract. Gayle also thinks possibly this was the last time they played together. “Sammy retired from Test cricket but I haven’t. However, I’m not eligible for selection for Test and ODI, think we played our last game for West Indies 2016-Hopefully 2017 the W.I fans can see us again.”
Gayle also said he is grateful for the ICC prize money which WICB didn’t take and asked to allocate among players. “Thank god for the prize money because the match fee is a joke what WIPA agreed to…so I’m donating my match fees to Charity!”
Recently WICB president Dave Cameroon said cricket in West Indies is on the right track. But, Sammy speech and now Gayle anguish proved that West Indies cricket is never on the right track. Gayle has exposed that how players in West Indies playing cricket and how they are getting money to live life.
