Chris Woakes, the England all rounder is set to miss the home tests against New Zealand later this summer. The talented all rounder underwent a knee surgery on Wednesday, which in all probability has made him unavailable for the New Zealand tests.
The Warwickshire seamer tore his left meniscus while recovering from a foot injury which he sustained during England’s horrid phase in the 2015 World Cup.
The England and Wales Cricket Board issued a statement on Wednesday which said that, “The ECB medical team confirms that England and Warwickshire bowler Chris Woakes underwent uncomplicated keyhole surgery on his left knee for a meniscal tear earlier today.”The injury occurred while undergoing rehab for his foot injury. His rehab is likely to take a further four to six weeks.”
Woakes played against India in the last three tests of the 2014 summer and troubled the Indian batsmen to a great extent. His absence will surely be felt by the English side.
