Cricket Australia Reacts To Virat Kohli’s Stunning One-Handed Catch

Is there anything Virat Kohli cannot do when he is on the cricket field. It does not matter whether the India skipper is batting or fielding, he rarely disappoints.
Well, India started the ongoing second Test against Australia pretty much on the backfoot. Even before the start of the game, Kohli loss the toss as the hosts decided to bat first. And the Australian openers rubbed further salt to India’s wounds.
Both of their openers Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch scored fifties to give their team a good start.
In fact, India went wicketless in the first session. However, the visitors clawed their way back into the game with four wickets in the second session. Jasprit Bumrah ended the opening wicket stand by dismissing Aaron Finch with a beauty. Finch scored 50 and shared an 112-run stand with Harris. Umesh Yadav then sent back Usman Khawaja cheaply before Hanuma Vihari accounted for Harris as India reduced Australia to 134 for 3. 14 runs later, Ishant Sharma sent back Peter Handscomb to leave Australia reeling at 148 for 4. And the credit for the wicket should go to none other than Virat Kohli.
The India skipper took an absolute stunner to make Handscomb pay for a poor shot. Ishant bowled a short delivery which Handscomb tried to steer over the slips. However, Kohli leapt up and threw his right hand in the air and took it. It is definitely going to be one of the best catches of the season.
And just like many, Cricket Australia was also blown away by Kohli’s grab. The cricket board’s official Twitter handle responded brilliantly to the catch, writing:
OH WOW! Kohli takes an absolute screamer! #AUSvIND

India, meanwhile, are leading the four-match Border-Gavaskar series after winning the series-opener by 31 runs. It was the first time, India won the first game of a Test series in Australia. It was also India’s only sixth Test win in Australia and first since 2008. A win in the ongoing Test will see India take an unassailable lead as well as retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
