Anderson can surpass my wickets tally in tests: Mcgrath
Australian former fast bowler Glenn McGrath said, James Anderson can surpass my wickets tally in test matches. James Anderson has now 451 wickets. The England pace bowler took his 450th wicket in the second test match of ongoing series against Sri Lanka.
“That’s entirely up to him; if he s
tays on the park, then he can do that quite easily – and knock me off. And good luck to him,” McGrath was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
“He’s a quality bowler, there’s no doubt about that. When he’s firing and the ball’s swinging, he’s as tough (to face) as any bowler going around,” McGrath said.
“He’s played 115 Tests now, which for a fast bowler to play over 100 is exceptional. He’s still bowling well, and he’s still taking wickets.”
James Anderson is currently the number 1 ranked bowler in test matches after an excellent performance in the second test match against Sri Lanka. Anderson overtook Kapil Dev in terms of leading wicket taker in test matches.
Glenn McGrath is 4th in terms of leading wicket-takers behind Muralitharan who has 800 wickets, followed by Shane Warne with 708 wickets and Indian spinner Anil Kumble with 619 wickets. James Anderson is 6th in terms of leading wicket takers.
James Anderson has done so well for England in past few years. He can still dominate in every condition of the world. His ability to swing the ball in conditions which helps the bowlers, he can destroy opponents. His coordination with Stuart Broad makes them a dangerous pair in the world at the present moment.
