Self-belief and aggression key to Kohli's success - Rohit Sharma

Indian star player Rohit Sharma has said that the key to Virat Kohli success has been his self-belief and aggression which has made successful in the recent past. The Indian team have tough test cricket season ahead. They will play four test matches against West Indies in July- August and after that New Zealand will tour India for 3 test matches and 5 One day Internationals and soon England will tour India for five test match series in November- December. The Indian team will play a total of 13 test matches in next six months.

“We have got a new captain so it is important that the team rides along with him and gives him the necessary support on the field and off the field as well”, Rohit Sharma said in an exclusive interview with India Today.

Virat Kohli became the captain of the Indian test team after retirement MS Dhoni in 2014. Under his captaincy, the Indian team have won series in Sri Lanka after 22 years, beating the number ranked team South Africa 3-0. Virat Kohli has been in great form this year in T20 and One-day internationals. He was leading runs scorer in ICC World T20 and also in the recently concluded IPL 9 where he scored 973 runs in 16 matches.

“Virat is doing a lot of things right, you cannot be a great player by doing just one or two things correctly. The process of becoming a good player is also very important.

“He has a lot of belief in himself and in his abilities, that’s probably the key for him. His instinct and aggression take over after that.”

Rohit Sharma is a fine player in shorter format but his ability with the bat in test matches remains a big question.

“ I am not worried too much about cementing my place in test team but now our only aim is to take India to number 1 team in test rankings. It is not going to be easy. We have a long process to follow and we need to focus on that for now”.
