As the all-rounder Chris Woakes has made himself unavailable for the upcoming IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) will hunt for a perfect replacement. The England player stated that he will be taking rest as to balance his workload for the upcoming international summer assignment.
His absence is a huge blow for DC as their other two pacers Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma will also be unavailable for initial games. Both pacers are suffering from their respective injuries and it is not clear how much time they will take to recover. Besides, the other pacers in the DC squad are not experienced.
Now, as Woakes is unavailable, the Capitals will look to find a replacement. Here we have listed three players who can replace him at Delhi Capitals.
IPL 2020: Three Players Who Can Replace Chris Woakes In Delhi Capitals:
Colin de Grandhomme
After playing for RCB in the 2018 and 2019 season, New Zealand all-rounder was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. Colin de Grandhomme has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2017 season.
In the recent-past against India, he showed skills under pressure when his side was constantly losing wickets. He has also the ability to pick the wickets in the middle which will surely be a plus point for the franchise. The right-hander is well for his pyrotechnics and he can provide the finishing touches with the bat for DC.
However, his IPL figures don’t do justice to his talent. He has played 25 matches and scored 303 runs and picked six wickets.
