Rashid Latif Takes A Dig At Virender Sehwag For Allegedly Making Sultry Remarks On Pakistan
Former Pakistan Skipper Rashid Latif in his latest Facebook video released from Pakistan Television Studio’s (PTV), has lambasted former Indian flamboyant batsman Virender Sehwag while terming the ex-batsman has tried to insult Pakistan on Son-Father controversial remark.
“Where did you come from boss seriously after India have the likes of [Sunil] Gavaskar, [Mohammad] Azharrudin, [Sanjay] Manjrekar, Kapil Dev, [Sachin] Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, [Rahul] Dravid, [VVS] Laxman, Harbhajan [Singh], Zaheer Khan, who all very well loved, respected in Pakistan,” Latif revealed in Live Facebook Video.
However, Sehwag was quick to react on micro-blogging website Twitter while saying silence has a definitive role to play.
“A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words,” Sehwag wrote on his Twitter handle.
As such comments from both professionals, have left a deep void between the die-hard fans of two Asian countries and has further affected the gentleman’s game.
Recently, cricketer-turned-commentator Sehwag has termed Sri Lankan team as a ‘damp matchstick’ in his exclusive interview with ABP News as he referred Pakistan ‘Beta’ on micro-blogging site Twitter after Safraz Ahmed-led side was annihilated by Men in Blue at Edgbaston on June 4 by 124 runs.

The 38-year-old Najafgarh-born Sehwag further in his TV interview revealed Sri Lanka do not have batting firepower to overcome India before the start of the all-important clash on Thursday, in which the Lankans steamrolled Men in Blue by seven wickets while chasing down the target of 322 in 48.4 overs.
“You [Sehwag] called Pakistan your [son] beta and Bangladesh your [grandson] pota, but what happened against Sri Lanka, which beta was this of yours?,” asked Latif.
The 48-year-old ex-former wicket-keeper Latif in his response stated the rejoinder was for Sehwag while adding he have had no complaint against the most Indian players, who are well educated are humble.
“You want respect than give respect to get respect,” Latif maintained.
Latif in his video revealed that had it been a personal comment he would have ignored the same, but he alleged Sehwag made sultry remarks on Men in Green, according to the Karachi-born batsman.

However, Latif stated while referring to Sehwag, you should be ready for the South Africa’s challenge while accepting the fact, India has a quality team.
“You are going to face the South African on Sunday [Group B], you might book your flight to home,” Latif said.
Going back into the history, Latif revealed it was former slow bowler Saqlain Mushtaq in 1999, who ripped apart the quality batting line-up of India as the off-spinner claimed 10 wickets in the match to see visitors winning the Test by 12 runs.
“Remember what Saqlain [Mushtaq] did in Chennai when you had 4 Baap’s [four father’s] playing in your team?,” Latif posed a question while referring to Sehwag.
As the remarks from Latif won’t sit well with most of the cricket followers, as the former player said they were donning the jersey with so much of enthusiasm when Sehwag was yet to make appearance in the world.
“We’re playing cricket proudly for our respective countries during that time, you were in liquid form, make some sense before you speak,” Latif asserted.
When it comes to India-Pakistan as the relations are marred by escalating tensions over the border, cricket is more than a game for many around, but one should show complete restraint, in order to give some space to their professionalism respectively particularly when cricketers are taking the centre stage, who are the role models for youngsters.
Interestingly, in the heat of a moment, Latif has further taken a dig at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), where revealing there are wrong people at the helm.
