Hindustan Times (HT) on Friday claimed that BCCI has approached former England team director Andy Flower to assume the role of the coach of national cricket team from his countrymen Duncan Fletcher.

HT further claims that BCCI has made up its mind over Fletcher and decided to not renew the contract of Fletcher and will also show the door to other stuff as well.

HT also reports that a BCCI official has told them about the informal talks took place with former Zimbabwe skipper Andy Flower.

“Nothing has been finalized as these are preliminary talks with the Board likely to invite applications from suitable candidates for the post next month,” revealed the source.

“Routine process would be followed before handing the responsibilities of the new coach. But so far, Flower has been contacted and let’s see who win the race,” he added.

Fletcher’s contract is reviewed on a year-by-year basis and was last extended in March 2013 by all powerful working committees of BCCI.

The former Zimbabwe skipper took over the charge after Gary Kirsten left the after a highly successful stint which included a triumphant 2011 World Cup.

In the last three years Dhoni-Fletcher duo has not managed to win a single match which has invited a lot of flak after, especially, after losing a Test series against a lowly ranked New Zealand, which were preceded by the humiliating defeats in South Africa have led to experts calling head of coach and captain alike, especially Dhoni in the longest format of the game.

It seems BCCI is finally listening to former cricketers like Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid and if not Dhoni, at least, Duncan Fletcher will get the boot soon.
