Sri Lankan Cricket Chief Selector Sanath Jayasuriya got disappointed as he was not been informed about the retirements of Sri Lanka’s two veterans Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara from international Twenty20 cricket. In spite of being limpid with them and sharing a right relation with them, he has not been acknowledged and that makes him feel let down.

“I feel very let down by them. I’ve been really transparent with them. If they’re even resting, I’ve been sending for them and telling them what’s going on. I never ever dealt controversially with any senior player,” Jayasuriya stated in an interview to ‘ESPNcricinfo’.

Both of these icon players have declared their retirement in public consecutively since the past two days.

Jayawardene declared his retreat through ICC’s twitter mirror campaign after his squad reached Bangladesh in ICC World Twenty20 while Sangakkara announced his retirement just before pushing off for the tournament adding up that he would retreat from other formats also after the 2015 World Cup.

“When I became a selector there were a bunch of stories and comments in the media, that we were going to practise this and that, but we didn’t do anything of that kind. I’ve always treated the seniors in a dissimilar manner. Whatever respect should be paid to that senior player has been broken, as a selection panel,” disappointed Jayasuriya said.
