9) Gregor MacGregor
Former England keeper, Gregor McGregor, who mainly stood up to the stumps against genuine fast bowling, owed much of his speed and a safe pair of hands to his time on the rugby field. In 1889 and 1890, he served Cambridge with distinction as a full back. Moving from strength to strength, McGregor also excelled at international rugby for Scotland between 1890 and 1896.
