Danish Kaneria: He Isn’t Like Harshal Patel To Take Time To Get Back Into The Groove

Danish Kaneria’s comments came after news broke out that Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the T20I World Cup in Australia next month owing to a back injury. The India fast bowler was recently rested for the first T20I against South Africa after complaining of back pain during India’s practice session.

After playing in the India tour of England, Jasprit Bumrah rejoined the team for the T20I series against Australia. He, however, missed the first match at Mohali as a precaution and featured in the next two matches. On his return, he took a wicket against Australia in Nagpur before getting hammered in the third match in Hyderabad.

Danish Kaneria said that Jasprit Bumrah could have returned directly at the 2022 T20I World Cup and to get back into his groove he could have played the practice matches.

“It would have been better if he had returned directly at the T20 World Cup 2022,” Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

“He could have played in practice matches to get back into rhythm. He is not like Harshal Patel or any other bowler who would need a lot of time to get back into the groove, ” said Danish Kaneria.

Jasprit Bumrah featured in two games against Australia and bowled just six overs in his comeback series. While Jasprit Bumrah returned figures of one for 23 in the second T20I, he conceded 50 runs in the third match and also failed to pick a wicket. According to recent reports, he could be out of action for four to six months owing to his back injury.

Upon his return from an injury suffered before Asia Cup 2022, Harshal Patel played 3 T20Is against Australia in the series and picked 1 wicket only. Moreover, he also conceded a lot of runs. He picked 2/26 in the 1st T20I against Proteas.

Danish Kaneria: Jasprit Bumrah Is Injury Prone But Played All IPL Matches

The former Pakistan cricketer further said that Jasprit Bumrah is injury prone and pointed out how he didn’t miss matches for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

“There are issues with Jasprit Bumrah’s back once again. While he is prone to injuries, he has always played all the matches in the IPL. The BCCI and the team management have looked after him well, giving him enough rest. However, it remains to be seen if the medical team were sure that he was ready to return,” Danish Kaneria said.

After he was ruled out of the first T20I against South Africa, several social media users had mentioned how the Mumbai Indians pacer is available for the IPL franchise but develops cold feet when it comes to wearing the blue jersey.

Jasprit Bumrah was a top trend on social media on Thursday (September 29) and some fans questioned his commitment to Team India, highlighting that he played all 14 games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. Former India pacer Dodda Ganesh has slammed fans for questioning Jasprit Bumrah and asked them to “respect” the players.
