David Warner Refused For X-ray To Play In The Boxing Day Test Match

David Warner, who was injured during a practice session ahead of the second Test match against New Zealand, refused for X-ray because he didn’t want to miss the Boxing Day Test match.

On Monday, while practising in the net session, Warner was hurt by the ball on his left thumb. The star batsman was left with a scare in his hand, but he declined for X-ray.

On day 2 of the second Test match against New Zealand, Warner gave the reason behind his rejection over any scan. The opener was desperate to play the Test match on Boxing Day and opined that X-ray might have ruled him out of the second Test match. He didn’t want to miss the happiness to play on the auspicious occasion.

“Once adrenaline kicks in you don’t feel anything,” Warner told SEN Cricket on Friday.

“Scans and X-rays only rule you out, they don’t rule you in, so there was no chance in the world I was going for an X-ray.”

What is the Boxing Day Test match?

After a busy Christmas day, a public holiday on 26th December is declared in many countries to enjoy and relax for a day. On this day, Australia plays a Test match against a visiting team at Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the 80,000 seated ground, almost every chair is filled with the spectators.

Currently, Australia is playing the second Test of the series against New Zealand at the MCG, where the host has played the first innings, setting a total of 467 runs.

However, opener David Warner couldn’t play a big knock, got out after scoring 41 runs. Travis Head was the star for Australia as he scored the second Test century of his career. For New Zealand, Neil Wagner was the successful bowler, picked four wickets and bowled 11 maiden overs.
