Former Australian vice-captain David Warner is all set to play his first match in Australia since the infamous ball-tampering scandal surfaced in Cape Town in March, this year during a penultimate Test match in South Africa.
The trio of Warner, Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft was handed a suspension for a year and nine months respectively by Cricket Australia (CA).
Warner has been barred from playing first-class, List A and the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia.
However, the southpaw will return to club cricket in his country. He will play a couple of matches in the Northern Territory’s Strike League this weekend.
The hard-hitting sensation Warner will turn up for the City Cyclones. Warner will make his debut against Northern Tide at Marrara on Saturday (July 21). His team will then face the Desert Blaze.
The besieged ball-tamperer Bancroft will be part of the team. As per reports in the Fairfax Media, Warner has arrived in the Northern Territory on Thursday (July 19).
Western Australia-based Bancroft has already played six matches in the tournament so far. He has scored 155 runs at a below-par average of 25.80.

Warner had a poor season with the bat in the Global T20 Canada:
The suspended opener was not able to reach the double-figure mark in the first three games. However, he has found some form in the last three innings with fluent half-centuries.
Warner and former skipper Smith was part of the inaugural Global T20 Canada League, 2018. He had a miserable tournament and failed to reach double digits on six occasions. He played eight innings for the Winnipeg Hawks and scored just a solitary fifty at an unhealthy average of 13.63.
Smith had a relatively better tournament than his former deputy David Warner.
However, he too failed to take the tournament by storm on the tricky pitches. He scored a brilliant fifty in his return match.
However, he failed to put up consistent performances. He is also set to return to cricket in his home country. And is expected to play for Sutherland at the Sydney Grade season.
