During the opening Test of Ashes 2019, David Warner, Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft were greeted with boos by the English crowd. The boos got louder as the series progressed but never during the series so far, has any player yelled back at the crowd.

While Smith has answered his critics with three centuries so far, Warner has responded to the sledge with his gentle behaviour. In the opening Test, he showed empty pockets to the crowd whle fieding on the boundary ropes.

In the ongoing Ashes, Smith has been the best batsman so far. He has scored 589 in four innings at 147.25 innings with three centuries (including a double-century). The former Australian captain had missed the third Test due to concussion that he had suffered after being hit by a bouncer from Jofra Archer in the second Test at Lord’s.

On the other hand, Warner and Bancroft have had tough roads so far. Warner has just scored 79 runs in four innings. Despite his dry run with the bat, Warner is not expected to be dropped from the squad for the final Ashes Test.

Bancroft, who scored 44 runs in the first two Tests, was dropped for the third Test for Marcus Harris. Australia are likely to persist with Harris for the final Test as well.

The ongoing fourth Test is going in Australia’s favour. England are 200/5 in response to Australia’s 297/8. Should the visiting bowlers get remainder of five wickets in the opening session on day 4, Australia might enforce the follow-on.
