India women’s allrounder Deepti Sharma is overwhelmed after receiving the Arjuna Award for his excellent service to the sport. After being adjudged with the prestigious award, she has high expectations from herself. India’s prominent cricketer wants to take the team to the top with her contribution.

The 23-year-old Deepti Sharma has gathered a bundle of records at a very early age. Since she has made her debut in 2014, her place has never been in doubt. The Agra born cricketer is one of the best spinners and gritty batter. She is the overall best package for India. So far, she has represented India in 54 ODIs and 48 T20Is.

I Was Always Waiting For This Moment: Deepti Sharma On Receiving Arjuna Award

In the recent interaction, Sharma showed his gratitude to the supporters, helping her to reach the top. She said that she was always waiting for this moment.

“I have worked really hard from the beginning and my family has supported me a lot. Even my coach Sumit bhaiyya has worked hard with me and we have specific training at our academy in Agra. Luckily even during the pandemic, I have practiced continuously. So those efforts have borne fruit today. I was always waiting for this moment to get the Arjuna Award,” Deepti Sharma said in a video on BCCI’s official Instagram page.

Deepti Sharma believes that the responsibilities of the players increase after getting an award because they are expected to deliver for the country.

“After getting this award, the responsibility of every player increases and they get motivated to perform better for the country. Whoever represents the country, if our name also gets mentioned, it feels good. I have met the cricketers and it feels really good.”

The youngster has 64 wickets and 1417 runs in ODIs. Talking about in the shortest format, she has amassed 423 runs and picked 53 wickets. Sharma last played for Team India in the disheartening T20 World Cup 2020.
