Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes it will be a miracle if India goes on to win the ongoing series against England. The visitors were 2-0 down after the first two Test matches. However, they were able to get back one in the third Test match at Trent Bridge where they won by 203 runs.

In fact, only one team has come back to win the series after being 2-0 down in the five-match series. It was Don Bradman’s led Australia in 1936-37 when the magician pulled off the miracle.

India is still in the hunt.

Thus, if India goes on to win the remaining two Test matches, they are going to write themselves in the golden pages of history. Aakash Chopra said India will be high on confidence after their win.

“If India is able to win this series after being 2-0 down, it will be a huge miracle. Yes, it was done by Australia in the 1930s, but it is not going to be easy to do that this time. We are high on confidence with that single victory in the last game, but the reality is that England has won two matches in this series including that dominant victory in the Lord’s Test,” said Chopra in a conversation with India Today.

The visitors were able to show the stomach for the fight in the third Test match. The tourists check all the boxes to keep breathing in the series. They were able to put 329 runs on the board and then they were able to bowl out England cheaply.

Most impressively, they were brilliant in the slip cordon. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant galloped seven catches each to set up a new record.

Consequently, India will look to continue with the impetus in the coming two matches. There is no doubt it is going to be a difficult road ahead for the Virat Kohli-led team. However, they were able to see a speck of win on the horizon after their third Test match triumph.

The fourth Test match will take place at Rose Bowl, Southampton from today.
