On Saturday (8th February), while the Indian batters struggled in the Auckland ODI to chase down a challenging target, Kedar Jadhav has eventually disappointed the fans. After his no-show, the fans are questioning his place in the Playing XI.
After losing the first game of this three-match ODI series against the hosts New Zealand at Hamilton, the Auckland ODI is the must-win game for India.
The visitors can’t afford another defeat in this series. Earlier, the Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to field first in penultimate ODI.
While once New Zealand were batting on 142/1, the Indian bowlers came back into the game strongly and pushed the host to the wall with the scorecard reading 197 for eight.
However, again Ross Taylor rescued the team and he had the game-changing 76-run unbroken partnership with debutant Kyle Jamieson for the ninth wicket. Jamieson scored unbeaten 25 and Taylor remained not out on 73 runs as the hosts managed to score 273/8 (50 overs).
Earlier, the opener Martin Guptill also scored 79 runs.
Kedar Jadhav scored just nine runs in Auckland ODI
In reply, the visitors were losing wickets at regular intervals from the beginning of that innings.
The No. 6 batsman Jadhav came to bat in 14th over when India were struggling at 71 for four. The right-handed middle-order batsman struggled in that 27-balls innings where he scored only nine runs. Before his dismissal, he put the 25-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer for the fifth wicket.
In the 21st over, Jadhav was caught out at cover region as Henry Nicholls took that catch. New Zealand right-arm pacer Tim Southee picked up his wicket. Jadhav’s dismissal has further put the visitors in a spot of bother.
Though Jadhav scored the crucial 26 not out off 15 balls in the last ODI at Hamilton, the fans are angry following his failure in the important Auckland ODI.
From the second half of the last year, including the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, he hasn’t played much effective role for the Indian ODI side.
So, the Indian fans are demanding his exclusion from the ODI team.
Here are some Twitter reactions after Kedar Jadhav failed to deliver for Team India:
Assuming that Kedar jadhav would win the match for us is as equivalent as Elon musk thinking to start space tourism….. it's a long distant vision.#INDvNZ #KedarJadhav

#KedarJadhav Another failure when needed. Who is the Uncle or Jijaji in #BCCI who is ensuring he gets selected in ODI's despite consistent failures. @BCCI @imVkohli

Why including him after this?
Why not manish.. He saved when the top order collapsed..— Puja (@Puja40125248) February 8, 2020

#KedarJadhav should just resign from cricket. I still don't get how he gets a place in the ODI XI. Fucking #AshleyYoung of Indian Cricket.

After 27 balls, the least you'd expect is that Kedar would have made it count. Got out to a nothing shot!! #KedarJadhav #NZvIND

Is this the #KedarJadhav benefit series? Surely Pandeyji would've been a better pick! Or will this pave the way back for the brainless Pant? #INDvNZ
