The second game of the three-match Test series between England vs Pakistan will begin on this Thursday (13th August) and The Rose Bowl (Southampton) will host this match. As England is leading this series by 1-0, Pakistan can’t afford another defeat in this series, while the hosts can secure this series before the last game by winning the upcoming Test.
Old Trafford (Manchester) hosted the opening game of this Test series in the last week. It was a thrilling game where we saw some ups and downs from both the side. In the fourth innings of that Test, England were once deeply struggling on 117/5 while they had to chase the target of 277 runs.
However, the English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes batted superbly in that crucial moment and built up the 139 runs partnership for the sixth wicket that changed the entire situation of the game. While Buttler scored 75 runs, Woakes safely guided the hosts to the series-leading victory by three wickets by remaining not out on 84 runs.
Now, England will ensure this home series victory if they win the second Test. Even if they manage to draw this forthcoming Test, they can’t lose this series anymore. So, the visitors Pakistan must have to win both the remaining Tests to win this series, and they can’t afford another defeat in this series.

England vs Pakistan 2020, 2nd Test: Fantasy Tips
Ben Stokes is unavailable for the remaining matches of this Test series. Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler have strongly returned to favourite positions after their strong performances in the last Test that helped the hosts to snatch the series-leading victory. However, Stuart Broad is still the strongest option as he has performed consistently with the ball in hand, and he is also showing his popular old batting aggression once again.
Among the English openers, Dom Sibley is a better and consistent performer in recent times, but Rory Burns is not far away. While Ben Stokes is unavailable for this Test, the young all-rounder Sam Curran can return to the Test side. Out of his 18 Tests, Sam played eight matches in England, where the hosts not only won all those Tests, but the youngster also played effective roles in most of those matches.
Opener Shan Masood started this tour incredibly well with the top-class batting performance as he scored 156 runs in the first innings of the opening game of this Test series, especially when most of the other Pakistan batsmen failed to perform positively. In that same innings, Babar Azam scored 69 runs and he has the ability to perform better in this series.
The leg-spinner Yasir Shah is going to be an obvious choice after picking up eight wickets (4/66 & 4/99) in the first Test of this series. Many experts want to see Fawad Alam in this Test match, whose first-class batting average is 56.78. The 34-year-old deserves some regular opportunities, especially when Pakistan batting is struggling for a long time.
