WI-W vs SA-W 4th ODI Match Preview:

South Africa Women tour of West Indies comprising three T20 Internationals followed by a five-match ODI series is scheduled to get underway from August 31, Tuesday.

West Indies Women will face South Africa Women in 4th ODI Match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

South Africa have been clinical thus far in the series, racing to a 3-0 lead.

Led by half-centuries from Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee, South Africa cruised to a comfortable 8-wicket win in the third One-Day International against West Indies, on Monday (September 13), and took a series-clinching three-nil lead in the five-match series. The victory, however, was set-up by the bowlers, who had bundled out the hosts for 157 at St Johns in Antigua, led by Shabnim Ismail’s triple strike.

Electing to bowl, South Africa’s new-ball pair of Ismail and Marizanne Kapp struck early, dismissing Hayley Matthews and Chedean Nation cheaply. While Matthews offered a return catch to Ismail, Nation was caught by Dane van Niekerk. However, Rashada Williams and Deandra Dottin led the revival with a steady 77-run stand for the third wicket before the former was dismissed by Sune Luus.

Dottin tried to ensure that West Indies remain steady despite the fall of the opener, but once Kycia Knight was trapped legbefore by Luus in the 34th over, a collapse was triggered. Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka snapped two wickets apiece to run through the middle and the lower order. Dottin, the only batter to stand out in West Indies’ innings, registered her 20th ODI fifty before being dismissed caught behind on 71.

West Indies’ innings was eventually wrapped up in the penultimate over with Ismail running out Karishma Ramharak with a direct hit

In response, South Africa broke little sweat in the chase, led by a commanding display of batting by the openers – Lee and Wolvaardt. The latter played the role of the aggressor in the partnership, striking six boundaries and busy working the ball around in gaps in the 122-run stand. Pacer Shamila Connell and Ramharak bore the majority brunt of their attack. Wolvaardt brought up her 21st ODI fifty, and Lee followed suit soon after to register her 22nd.

Left-arm seamer Qiana Joseph struck twice – dismissing Wolvaardt and Luus in quick succession – but by then, the hosts were left with very little to defend. Van Niekerk was in no mood to extend the chase, and smacked a boundary and a six in her run-a-ball 18 to help the visitors cross the line in the 37th over. Lee remained unbeaten on a 120-ball 78, which included nine boundaries.
