The year 2019 saw a new trend in the longest form of cricket as the International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced the World Test Championship (WTC) 2019-21 which started with the Ashes 2019. The introduction of the Test Championship has surely increased the competition with the full members.

5.Pat Cummins
Australian Cricketer Pat Cummins’ career has been prone to injuries that gave him many breaks in the cricket. He made the debut in the Test team at the age of 18 but could not constantly play for his country because of injuries.
The best year for Pat Cummins was 2019 where he constantly performed in Test cricket. He was the highest wicket-taker in the Ashes 2019 with 29 wickets which includes two four-wicket hauls. In the home summer against Pakistan and New Zealand, he always gave a breakthrough when the Test skipper Tim Paine needed.
In the recently ended New Zealand series, the right-arm fast bowler picked 12 wickets in the three-match Test series. He is also the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket in 2019. In total, he played 12 Test matches in 2019 and picked 59 wickets. Thus, the Cummins deserves to be awarded the Test Cricketer of the year.
