India started the New Zealand tour with the grand success after Virat Kohli’s men clean-swept New Zealand in the five-match T20I series. Currently, the two teams are busy playing the ongoing three-match ODI series. After competing in the 50-over format, the Men in Blue will head to play the two-match Test series against New Zealand starting from 21 February.

The first Test match will be played at Basin Reserve in Wellington from 21st February. Whereas, the second Test match will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch from 29 February.

The squad announced for the Test series saw Rohit Sharma’s name is missing. He has been ruled out of the tour because of a calf injury that he nursed during the last T20I match against New Zealand. In place of Indian opener, Prithvi Shaw has been recalled in the team.

Also, Hardik Pandya has not able to recover from his injury well in time. Thus, it has led his ouster from the ongoing bilateral series against Kiwis.

While we think these are the four players who deserved to be in the Test squad against New Zealand.

Mohammed Siraj is the right arm pacer who is famous for his run-up. The Hyderabad player is a Test specialist but till now he hasn’t earned the call from India’s Test team. He has made the debut in shorter formats for India.

Currently, Siraj is busy playing the unofficial Test matches against New Zealand A. Before this, he was part of the Ranji Trophy where he picked two four-wicket hauls against Punjab and Kerela.

Ishant Sharma is not fully recovered from the injury, but he has been still included in the Test squad. In place of Ishant, Siraj could be given the place in India’s Test squad for the two-match Test series.
