Glenn Maxwell likely to be fit for tri-series

Glenn Maxwell has been a vital cog in the limited overs setup of Australia. The all rounder, who has struggled from indifferent form lately was injured midway during the IPL and had to leave the tournament in order to seek a remedy for his injury. With an upcoming tri series in West Indies, it will be essential for Maxwell to be fit in time.

Fortunately for the flamboyant batsman, his injury seems to be healing quickly and he is likely to be fit in time before the tri series. In his chat with cricket.com.au, Maxwell opened up about his injury and said that he sustained it while trying to slog sweep a delivery in the nets during the IPL.

“I was slog sweeping in the nets,” Maxwell said. “I felt it go then got through the next game. I tried to scrape a few games together, where I didn’t have to bat too much and fielded in low-intensity areas. “I thought it had died down but it came back to bite me.”That last game I knew it was gone. It was disappointing to leave the tournament early but in terms of the bigger picture, it was the right decision to go home.”

Admitting his fears over the injury, Maxwell said, “I was a bit nervous when I first did the injury in India.” I was a bit worried about whether they’d take me to the Caribbean if I wasn’t 100 per cent before the series started.”

Displaying confidence ahead of the tri series, the star all rounder added, “I feel like I’m ready to go and hopefully I’ll be ready for that first game.” “That’s going to be my biggest challenge, to try and get ready for the first one. “But if not that game, I should be right for the rest of the tournament.”
