Today on 14th November 2020, entire India is celebrating the Diwali festival. Like many Indians, the Indian cricketers are also celebrating this Diwali in their own way and many of them have sent their best wishes in this festival of lights.
Diwali is one of the crucial festivals in India. This festival symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”.
A happy, cracker free, safe Diwali
Though novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 has highly disrupted the regular life of people in the world since the early this year, Indians are now trying to celebrate the ongoing festival season in a better way. In the Diwali festival, many Indians enjoy the day by bursting firecrackers.
But due to the coronavirus and pollution issues, many Indian states have this time banned or put tough restrictions on bursting firecrackers. The Indian cricket family, both former and present cricketers, have also wished a happy, cracker free, safe Diwali to all the Indians.
Some of the members from the Indian cricket family, who sent their best Diwali wishes through their official Twitter account, were the 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, present Indian captain Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul etc, former cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan etc. former Indian women’s captain Anjum Chopra, present Indian women’s cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy etc.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) just completed on last Tuesday (10th November) where Mumbai Indians (MI) recorded their fifth IPL trophy. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the original IPL 2020 window was shifted from March-May to September-November (19th September to 10th November 2020) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) finally hosted that entire tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) worked really hard to make sure the tournament runs successfully and it ultimately makes happy the cricket fans.
Indian men’s cricketers have just landed in Australia for the much-awaiting international bilateral series. In this tour, India will play the three-match ODI series, three-match T20I series and four-match Test series against the hosts Australia between 27th November and 19th January 2021. It is India’s first international cricket schedule since last March.
