Legendary Zimbabwean star all-rounder Heath Streak has expressed his desire to coach Team India in the future.
The 42-year old is one of the highly rated coaches around the world as he managed an excellent spell as Bangladesh bowling coach where he nurtured young talent and made them a very good bowling unit.
He did not renew his contract with Bangladesh Cricket Board which he signed back in May 2014 for a period of 2 years and went back home after a busy cricketing season.
He worked as a bowling coach for IPL side Gujarat Lions where they managed to reach the playoffs finishing the group stage on top of the table. Thanks to their fast bowlers who backed the team under the guidance of Heath Streak.
After the resignation of Duncan Fletcher, Team India head coach position has been vacant for over a year as Ravi Shastri was employed as team director over the period.
The BCCI have advertised for the vacant coach position and there are many speculations going on around about the possible contenders for the position.
Despite the speculation Heath Streak played down the rumors as he confirmed that he did not apply for the post. However, he is looking to work in India in the future.
When asked about this, he said, “I wouldn’t be applying yet, it’s something I would like to look at in the future. I would like to evolve to a head coach’s positions and gain more experience.”
Former team director Ravi Shastri and current chief selector Sandeep Patil have officially applied for the job and are looking favorites at the moment as BCCI are looking for potential candidates from all around the world.
