South African cricketer David Miller has revealed he has great admiration for his Indian counterpart Shikhar Dhawan. He stated that he commends his consistent form and attitude both on and off the field. Miller will be seen in action for his new team Rajasthan Royals in this IPL.
He had been a very important part of the KXIP team in the 7 seasons he played for them. The South African had been in KXIP since his debut in 2013 in the IPL and was bought by RR in the latest auction in December 2019 for Rs 75 lakhs. The 13th edition of IPL was originally scheduled to kick off from March 29 was postponed indefinitely after April 15 due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the nation.

Someone I’ve really enjoyed seeing batting in the IPL has been Shikhar Dhawan: David Miller
David Miller appreciates and admires his fellow southpaw Shikhar Dhawan. He revealed he just loves his approach to the game. Miller said he commends Dhawan’s consistent form for his team and his attitude towards winning and losing.
There are many cricketers that I admire. Growing up my role models were Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist. Both of them were left-handers and always took the aggressive and positive route. Someone I’ve really enjoyed seeing batting in the IPL has been Shikhar Dhawan,” Miller said.
“I just love how he goes about his game. I’ve got to know him as a person as well. He is extremely relaxed about his outlook on his game and is very professional. But at the same time, he understands that cricket is cricket and sometimes things turn out differently. But, yeah, just the way he goes about his business and is a really consistent performer. So, I really enjoy watching him bat,” he said.
David Miller recalls the incident where his shot had blinded a policeman
The southpaw talked about the incident wherein his shot had blinded a policeman in IPL 2015. A ball that Miller hit for a six in Kolkata went straight to hit a policeman’s left eye and he lost his eyesight.
It was quite a big issue, to be honest with you. It was extremely serious and I think I blinded the policeman and it was quite a situation that we had. I still remember the shot and how it went through the air and everything unravelled in a couple of days actually,” he said.
“It came out in the press and the newspapers and was quite tough to deal with, to be completely honest with you. Fortunately, that is not going to be happening this year without the crowds,” he laughed, referring to the likely empty stands during the IPL in the UAE.
“This will be my first time playing in front of no crowds. But back in South Africa, we’re used to playing four-day games in front of no crowds; there’s maybe just a man and his dog there to watch. T20 and IPL, though, is going to be very different with no crowds, to be honest,” he concluded.
David Miller is all excited to meet his new teammates at Rajasthan Royals. He has already played with some of RR’s squad like Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot and Manan Vohra he played together with for the Kings XI. He has played with Oshane Thomas as well in Jamaica. He is already in UAE with the squad, having been following all the guidelines from BCCI.
The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the eight teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
