Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir played a massive role in India’s victory against Sri Lanka in the 2011 CWC final. After Sri Lanka posted the first innings total of 274/6 (50 overs), India lost their first two wickets in just 31 runs.
However, the left-handed Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir played a strong innings at that stage and led the national side to the successful chase. Gambhir scored 97 runs off 122 balls (nine fours) before Thisara Perera bowled him.
When Gambhir returned to the pavilion, India were at a comfortable position in that chasing. Finally, India chased down that target in 48.2 overs after losing four wickets (277/4).
