ICC World Cup 2019: All-Round England Knocks Down India, Twitter Reacts
Jul 1, 2019 at 1:54 PM
England sealed a comfortable victory in the must-win game by thumping the Indian National Cricket Team by 31 runs. They showed grit and determination to outsmart India in all sections of the game. It was Jonny Bairstow and the bowlers, who did the trick for England.
Having a look at the details of the game, initially, it wasΒ Eoin Morgan, who won the toss, elected to bat first in a pressure game. Justifying the decision of the toss, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow showed their class by smashing Indian bowlers to all corners of the park before Ravindra Jadeja putting a sensational effort.
The wicket certainly pulled India back into the game as Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan walked back to the hut in quick succession. It was Mohammed Shami, who delivered the goods for the Indian team in the middle overs.
Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes delivered:
Once again, it was Joe Root and Ben Stokes in the middle overs, who got the burden on their shoulders to post a big total on the board. They did decent enough with Ben Stokes going after the bowlers. However, it was Mohammed Shami again, who bagged the wicket of Stokes.
Despite the wickets, England never looked like stopping the attack in the final overs. Shami finished with a 5-wicket haul while Jasprit Bumrah was at his best in controlling the economy rate. For England, Ben Stokes played a stunning knock for the team cause.
In reply to the chase, India lost KL Rahul for a cheap score while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma showed their class in the middle. Though Virat Kohli missed converting his century, Sharma did it for the team once again. But, unfortunately, he failed to get a big one on his back.
In the end, Hardik Pandya tried his best but never got enough support from the other end. Liam Plunkett was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets while Chris Woakes bagged one wicket.
Here are a few tweets:
England back on track. Too good a team to miss out. I don't see them losing to New Zealand now.

Brief and eventful beginning for Rishabh Pant in World Cup. But lets not be harsh on him. He's just 21. #INDvENG #INDvsENG #IndiavsEngland pic.twitter.com/GQbEkOU4GG

'You cannot be chasing 338 and still have 5 wickets at the end.'
Ganguly pretty much sums it up.
What a deflating way to play cricket. #indiavsEngland

Don't worry Pakistani fans, In 1992 England beat India. Everything is going as per plan. ππ

India's first ten and last ten overs can be questioned for sure. 28 too less for a chase of 338. Lucky that Rohit was dropped. India know their weaker part, can they afford to keep them?
