In an Instagram post, she shared a photo featuring both Virat and Steve during from India vs Australia World Cup 2019 match and wrote, “Aggressive cricketer, benevolent man – so easy to love.”
When asked in a post-match press conference, Virat revealed that he felt bad for Steve Smith. “Just because there are so many Indian fans here, I don’t want them to set a bad example. He didn’t do anything to be booed in my opinion. I felt for him and told him sorry on behalf of the crowd. In my opinion, that’s not acceptable,” said Virat Kohli.
The act was even appreciated by Smith who came up to him, shook his hand and patted him on the back for the selfless gesture during the drinks break. The video and photos of Kohli urging the crowd have gone viral on the internet.
