Of late, the injury concerns have become a tough aspect for the Indian National Cricket Team. The latest one to join the list is the new opener of the team KL Rahul, who injured himself while taking a catch in the deep. However, BCCI gives a major update ahead of the second innings of the game.
It was in the 16th over of the game when Jonny Bairstow attempted to launch Yuzvendra Chahal out of the park. However, he just got enough on his bat, as the ball just landing over the rope. In between, KL Rahul stationed himself to pluck a catch just before the ball landing in the boundary zone.
KL Rahul might open:
Unfortunately, he couldn’t land himself in the right way, which saw him being limped off the field. Pattrick Farhart assessed the Indian opener and it is learnt from the BCCI that KL Rahul is fine to bat in the second innings of the game.
Later on, BCCI issued a statement on Rahul’s injury status. “KL Rahul landed on his back while attempting a catch at the boundary. He is being treated and assessed. He is expected to be back,” read the statement.
Meanwhile, in the air, the commentator Harsha Bhogle quoted that Rahul’s injury is an external one, so there will be no issue as far as him opening the innings is concerned. He can bat anywhere as well.
Coming to the match, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow showed their class by smashing Indian bowlers to all corners of the park before Ravindra Jadeja putting a sensational effort.
The wicket certainly pulled India back into the game as Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan walked back to the hut in quick succession. It was Mohammed Shami, who delivered the goods for the Indian team in the middle overs.
Despite India making a comeback in the game with quick wickets, the brilliant show from Stokes and Buttler, in the end, helped England to post a massive tally on the board.
