Well, that was a scintillating affair at Lords between New Zealand. The pressure-filled game saw the nerves of the both team’s players and in the end, it was the best team on the day that won the glorious cup, for which, they fought for a couple of months. For England. Ben Stokes has been brilliant with the bat.

Getting into the details of the game, initially, it was Kane Williamson, who won the toss, elected to bat first without any further considerations. Once again, their best batsman Martin Guptill failed for a cheap score while Henry Nicholls failed to convert his start into a big score.

During the course, Kane Williamson failed to score runs for the team, as he nicked one straight to Jos Buttler. Following him, Ross Taylor also walked back while Tom Latham was the one for New Zealand, who stood firm in the middle.

Ben Stokes fought hard, Kiwis bowlers delivered:

He delivered the goods when it mattered the most by knocking the boundaries to make the scorecard ticking. However, unfortunately, he couldn’t give the flourish in the end, which saw them scoring 241 runs on the board.

In reply to the chase, England openers got a solid spell from New Zealanders, for which, they never got the answers. Jason Roy looked in real trouble while Jonny Bairstow tried his best to hand around before dragging Ferguson on to his stumps.

He was quickly followed by Chris Woakes, which certainly kept New Zealand on the top. However, Ben Stokes and Liam Plunkett kept England in the chase with their brilliant striking in the end. In a surprising way, it went down to the wire and the game was drawn to take into the super-over.
