Of late, in fact, from the last couple of years, we are coming across the advertisements on the Indo-Pak clashes, which are funny and effective in their marketing. But, in the recent past, they have crossed their limits, as they are hurting the feelings of either border people. Meanwhile, the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani thrashes Star Sports Channel.
India and Pakistan face off against each other on 16 June at Old Trafford in what is always an encounter that sets the pulses racing. As if the match needed any more spice the television ads on both sides have the border have added to the hype around the encounter.
Once again, the advertisement war is in the run-up to Sunday’s clash between the arch-rivals has heated up with TV channels in both the countries putting out offensive advertisements.
A World Cup ad featuring Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman lookalike hasn’t gone too well in India, while in India there have been ads about how India has been dominating Pakistan in the World Cups.
Star Sports brought back the famous Mauka Mauka advertisement, which has been the popular slogan for previous India vs Pakistan world cup clashes. As the match coincided with Father’s Day this year, the ad referred to Pakistan and Bangladesh as India’s children with a tagline, ”Baap, Baap Hota Hai.”
ICC should take note of it – Ehsan Mani
Speaking of the same, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Ehsan Mani asked Star Sports to be the broadcaster of International Cricket Council but not like the broadcaster of India. He wants them to be fair enough for all the teams in the ICC World Cup 2019.
This new ad by Star Sports that extends the famous 'Mauka Mauka' theme and connects it to Father's Day did make me laugh at its cheekiness, but I immediately felt guilty for laughing. I didn't know why and upon some more thought, I thought that it perhaps lacked grace. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/bWV0tQrKan

“I think this is for the ICC to take note. Star is the host broadcaster. They are not an Indian broadcaster, they are the broadcaster of the ICC. They should be fair to all teams. That (the teasers) is not part of cricket,” Ehsan Mani told to The Indian Express.
