ICC World Cup 2019: I Feel India Will Reach Semifinals – Virender Sehwag
It is obvious that the prediction scenarios will take the boost whenever a major event takes place in the game of cricket. With ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner, the experts picked their favourites for the upcoming grand event. Meanwhile, the latest to join the bandwagon is India’s stylish former opening batsman Virender Sehwag.
Of late, the Indian National Cricket Team is performing exceptionally in all conditions. They have got the best batting lineup, which is equally being backed up by the bowling department. The area for improvement is pretty low, which would certainly put them on top of the chart.
Speaking of the same, Virender Sehwag quoted that the Indian team will enter into the tournament as favourites to win the cup. He believes that the team got required combination in their lineup to make things fall in place.
Virat Kohli-led side got Hardik Pandya – Virender Sehwag
According to Sehwag, Hardik Pandya is one that has become irreplaceable in recent times. Hardik has played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ record fourth title triumph in the IPL recently, coming into the lucrative T20 league after enduring a tumultuous phase following his outrage-evoking remarks on women on a chat show.
”I am a part of the ICC World Cup 2011, which won for India. The difference between that team and the current is the all-rounder. Virat Kohli’s men got Hardik Pandya, who brings a brilliant balance for the team. We have top four bowlers and best six batsmen and on the top of it a good all-rounder,” Virender Sehwag said to Cricbuzz.
”The only concern I have is the new ball. If we bat the new ball wisely and get through those few overs, especially, openers Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and then Virat Kohli. Our team has the potential to win the World Cup. Initial, 3-4 games will be quite challenging.
I am sure India will reach Semifinals –
Further, Virender Sehwag quoted that the team will reach the semifinals of the tournament. He believes that Indian team will have a good chance if they can beat the team in semifinals of the tournament.
”If India can start well, they will reach the semifinals. I feel India will surely go to the semifinals. If India avoids the danger in the semifinal, which will be against a big team, they got a good chance to win the trophy. I wish all the best to Virat Kohli-led side for the ICC World Cup 2019,” he concluded.
The tournament begins from May 30 and will be played in England and Wales. While India will be looking for their third title – after success in 1983 (under Kapil Dev’s captaincy) and 2011 (under Mahendra Singh Dhoni).
