Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019, Bangladesh Cricket team have received a massive injury scare with their star all-rounder Mahmudullah suffering a grade-3 tear on his shoulder. A recent MRI report revealed the nature of Mahmudullah’s injury. Mahmudullah sustained an injury a few months ago; however, it aggravated during the first Test against New Zealand when he threw his body twice while fielding.

Bangladesh team management immediately conducted an MRI in New Zealand and was waiting for the report before determining the healing process of the injury. BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury revealed that they received the report on Monday but refused to divulge the details. Meanwhile, as per reports in Cricbuzz, it was a grade-3 Labrum tear, which often requires surgery for complete healing.

An official close to developments said they have recommended 15 days rest to the all-rounder. Following that, the Bangladesh Cricket Board will start the recovery training.

”We received the MRI report of Mahmudullah today and it reveals he had a grade- three tear. We have recommended him rest for 15 days and later we will start his rehabilitation program,” the officials said to Cricbuzz.

The official also added that they would follow the conservative treatment process. However, it is doesn’t heal by it; Mahmudullah might need an operation. Mahmudullah’s injury is very similar to that of fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, but the board is hopeful that he will recover by the conservative treatment process. This kind of tears usually takes a heavy toll on the fast bowlers.

”We will follow conservative treatment process and if that fails to heal him than we might need an operation,” he added.

”I am not well,” a distraught Mahmudullah told Cricbuzz in Mirpur. ‘The injury is quite similar to the one that Mustafiz had so I may need an operation if it is not healed properly,” he said.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign in the World Cup on June 2 against South Africa at the Oval. The management will pray that Mahmudullah gets fit for the event as he will play a crucial role for the team.
