ICC World Cup 2019: Michael Vaughan Takes A Dig At Team India For Their Batting Approach In High Chases
Well, Michael Vaughan, who has always been the active social media user took a jibe at the Indian National Cricket Team following the Windies sincere effort to win the game against Sri Lanka despite losing the early wickets. He compared the approach of Windies to the Indian team, who never tried to chase in the end overs against England.
For their part, India stayed in the hunt till the final 10 overs, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s third ton of the World Cup and Virat Kohli’s fifth successive fifty-plus score. But apart from those and Hardik Pandya, to an extent, the rest of the batting lineup disappointed for India, who lost by 31 runs.
India needed 104 runs in the final 10 overs. India had Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni at the crease with Kedar Jadhav to come. However, Pandya tried hard but did not manage to get the momentum going. Pandya finally fell in the 45th over.
Michael Vaughan replies to Harsha Bhogle:
Kedar Jadhav joined Dhoni in the middle as India needed 71 runs in last 5 overs. However, there were hardly any big shots in the final over. It seemed that there was not much attempt to go for the target. India added just 39 runs in the final 5 overs (with 12 of them coming in the final over).
But, the last night game between Sri Lanka and Windies is the other story altogether. The stylish batsman Nicholas Pooran has tried his heart out in helping the Windies team to get over the line. However, it wasn’t the case, as Sri Lanka turned it back in the final overs.
Meanwhile, the Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted ”Got to love the West Indies. Even when the target is seemingly beyond reach, they keep going for it.”
In reply, the English former Cricketer Michael Vaughan, who has always been cheeky with his comments on social media panel quoted ‘‘Unlike India”, which didn’t go well with the Indian fans.
