And, once again, Quinton de Kock showed why he is the best in the business. The stylish southpaw grabbed a stunning catch behind the wickets to send the Indian skipper Virat Kohli back to the hut. The right-handed Andile Phehlukwaya was the bowler to induce an edge of Virat’s blade.
It was in the 16th over of the game when Andile Phehlukwayo came back to bowl his third over in the spell. In the third ball, he was smashed to a boundary, however, then came the Jaffa to ask Virat Kohli walk back to the hut.
Virat Kohli scored 18:
Earlier in the match, it was the skipper of South Africa Faf du Plessis, who won the toss, opted to bat first. They were welcomed by the fire spell from Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The classy Jasprit Bumrah removed Hashim Amla with a snorter while Quinton de Kock too followed in quick succession.
However, the skipper Faf du Plessis and Rassie Van der Dussen started the repair work and did well to keep Proteas in the game. But, then came the impact of Yuzvendra Chahal, who made the skipper of South Africa and Dussen walk back in quick succession.
Their wickets were quickly followed by the dismissal of the all-rounder JP Duminy when Kuldeep Yadav bowled a brilliant delivery to the southpaw. Then it was Andile Phehlukwayo, who stood like a warrior for the team in the middle but unfortunately, he never got the support from the other end.
The wicket once again brought Indians into the driver seat. However, the lanky Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada played cautiously to near South Africa to 200 on the board. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers while Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed with their spells.
In the end, it was Chris Morris’ blitz, which gave South Africa something to fight on the board. All in all, it was a fine performance from Indian National Cricket Team in their first game of the tournament.
In reply to the chase, the Indian team lost Shikhar Dhawan early in the innings while the wicket of Virat Kohli is the second one. Meanwhile, the vice-captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are fighting in the middle.
