ICC World Cup 2019: Roger Binny Backs Rishabh Pant To Replace Kedar Jadhav

Rishabh Pant has kept the Indian selectors under the pump with his swashbuckling knocks in the Indian Premier League 2019. Pant showed that he can deliver the goods under pressure for the team, which was one of the criteria for Pant, who missed out the World Cup selection. Meanwhile, the former Cricketer Roger Binny supports Pant to replace if Kedar Jadhav gets out of the tournament.

After the conclusion of the squad announcement for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, one of the major debates in the town is the selection of Dinesh Karthik ahead of Rishabh Pant. People were surprised with the call, as they felt that Pant is an obvious choice. One of them is Roger Binny.

However, the selection panel led by MSK Prasad quoted that Rishabh Pant has got everything as a batsman to be in the side but the lack of wicket-keeping skills under the pressure is something, which helped Dinesh Karthik to get the nod ahead of Pant.

Meanwhile, the all-rounder Kedar Jadhav has suffered from a shoulder injury ahead of the tournament. His history with the injuries isn’t that great, which would give one vacant spot for the selectors if the history repeats again for Jadhav. In between, Roger Binny suggests Rishabh Pant for that position.

Speaking of selection, he quoted that Kedar Jadhav hasn’t got a good record with fitness. Roger Binny feels that Rishabh Pant could get the chance if Jadhav fails to make it up. He showered words of praise on Pant, who can turn the game with his blistering striking.

”Fitness, as I say, is the key to India’s chances. I have noted that Kedar Jadhav is under a bit of a cloud. If he doesn’t get fit, I would go for Rishabh Pant. He is one of those players who can tear any bowling apart and win you games,” he wrote to Times of India.

Pant can change the course of a game in ten overs or half an hour. You need someone like him if you want to win major titles. He may come across as being immature in shot selection at times. But how does one learn? Only by playing more, earning your place in the team. He is a long-term investment,” Binny concluded

All in all, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out in the upcoming few days. For now, the selectors have named Rishabh Pant in the standby chart alongside Ambati Rayudu. It would certainly mean that Pant is in the contention.
