ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Trolls Sachin Tendulkar For Asking MS Dhoni To Show Positive Intent
Twitterati hasn’t spared even a legend like Sachin Tendulkar. The stalwart of Indian Cricket Team Sachin Tendulkar has felt that MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav has lacked intent in the game against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, it didn’t go down well with a section of fans, who started to troll Sachin Tendulkar.
Tendulkar, speaking to India Today, admitted that he wasn’t pleased with the way Dhoni and Jadhav played. While Indian players are considered as good players of spin, the match saw Men in Blue scoring only 118 runs in 34 overs of spin bowling overall.
Slightly disappointed – Sachin Tendulkar
“I felt slightly disappointed, it could have been much better. I was also not happy with the partnership between Kedar and Dhoni, it was very slow. We batted 34 overs of spin bowling and scored 119 runs. This was one area where we didn’t look comfortable at all. There was no positive intent,” Tendulkar said.
The 37-year-old produced a slow 28-run knock from 52 deliveries. He was stumped off from Rashid Khan’s delivery. The dismissal happened in the 45th over. Also, his very slow inning partnering Kedhar Jadhav kept hurting the Run Rate of the innings.
MS Dhoni’s knock was the slowest innings over the score of 25 in this World Cup so far. His 28 runs were scored at a strike rate of 53.84. The second slowest innings in this World Cup above the score of 25 is David Warner’s 48-ball 26 vs Sri Lanka.
Dhoni and Jadhav were part of a 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket but they also played out 84 balls between themselves. Dhoni made 24 off 36 in that partnership while Jadhav scored 31 off 48 balls which slowed down India’s proceedings in the middle overs.
Social media, however, has gone berserk in targeting Tendulkar, with some of the ardent Dhoni fans being critical of Tendulkar’s comments.
Here are a few tweets:
Sachin Tendulkar, of the "95 to 100 in 20 balls regardless of the match situation" fame talks about Dhoni's lack of intent.
Wow, just wow !! Matlab hypocrisy ki hadh hain bhaiyya!

Sachin (about Dhoni): He did not show any positive intent against Afghanistan
Dhoni: Are you talking about the positive intent which you used to show in your 90s..

The same man that won you the World Cup which you couldn't win in your whole career with one of the best Indian players around. Sachin acting like he was some big hitter, man used to struggle in his 90s. Someone should pull up his strike rate when he's been in the 90s🤦🏽♂️ #Dhoni🐐 pic.twitter.com/hCVQ5aBI9h

Atleast #MSD is much more a team player than the great @sachin_rt … the little master always had a selfish intent when he came out to bat !! 100 tons and everything is good but one can count on their fingers as to how many matches India won / test matches saved coz #Sachin https://t.co/2rbq3HZebd

@sachin_rt i thought that you forgot your own innings vs Bangladesh 100th century you played very bad inning so that Bangladesh won the match easily.

Dhoni playing for his team and that Sachin only playing for his career #Sachin

As a professional cricket player, he knows how to play and how to win the match. He is a international player.
So no one have a rights to ask him a question…. He is playing more than 15 years of cricket. Sachin should have been criticise whole team instead of Dhoni💪#Dhoni pic.twitter.com/toqu8NsnZi

Yes #Sachin was a selfish player..no doubts in that…most of the times India lost when he got centuries 😊 But #Dhoni is a Gentleman player who cares more abt team' s success..Dhoni n #Kohli r far greater than Overrated Sachin..sorry if I hurt anyone..my humble opinion 🙏
