Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have reportedly asked for a change in venue for their game against Afghanistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. The marquee event is scheduled to be played in India this year and Pakistan are looking set to participate in the event.
Pakistan’s participation in the competition looked doubtful after India’s refusal to travel to the country for this year’s Asia Cup. However, with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) accepting PCB’s hybrid model, the path has been cleared for the Men in Green to travel to India for the World Cup.
PCB, however, have now come up with a fresh set of problems and have expressed their concerns over the venue assigned to them for their game against Afghanistan. According to reports, Pakistan are set to play against Afghanistan in Chennai, a venue that has traditionally assisted spinners. And Pakistan are reportedly in no mood to play against a spin-friendly Afghanistan team on such a track.

Pakistan want venue change:
According to a report from Cricket Pakistan, the PCB has asked for a change in venue. They want their game against Afghanistan to be played in Bengaluru where they are scheduled to play against Australia. And they want their match against Australia to be played in Chennai.
Pakistan are worried that the likes of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad can help Afghanistan to cause an upset. And to make sure that the talented and dangerous Afghanistan side does not get too much help from the track, the PCB has requested to swap venues for their World Cup games against Australia and Afghanistan.
